about

So! People have been asking me why remix Starships by Nicki Minaj. After all, it ain’t Hiphop. It’s some ivy league school-pop-Saturday night-get drunk type shit. Yeah, it’s a pop song but the acapella is out there because they know it’s got other potential. So eventhough it gets clowned, you know, by rappers and what not, that's the exact reason why I chose this as one of the remixes for the Reoverstanding suite. To overstand it in a different context.
Hiphop started as part of dance music culture back in the seventy's and eighty's. It mixed well with disco and Starships is no different. Of course if you're going to do that then using Planet Rock is obvious. It worked out. So it's hard, you know, and that's what it's supposed to be. Just quit hatin on Nicki Minaj. KRS-ONE respects Nicki Minaj so how do others not? Oh, she’s “too” sexual. Chill yourself.
